Danish food - any good?
I can't think of any dish that's typically Danish. There must be some, because all countries have their own specialities. Anyone been to Denmark and can recommend something good, other than Frikkadellen?

When I worked out there the 2 things I was always asked to bring back was fags (they were-not sure now-the second biggest tobacco consumer in Europe behind Greece) and Danish bacon because the good stuff is kept by for export .
The town I stayed in had a massive pig farm and the whole town was heated off of the slurry processing plant
The funny fact at the time was a Danish girl would shag you all night long but if she really liked you, she'd buy you a beer

Ironically the majority of bacon in the shops is streaky bacon...
On supermarket sold something called English bacon which is what is sold in the UK

Swiss, the Stockholm archipelago is awesome. The islands and nature are breathtaking as you know. As for semlor, Annika makes them herself. She spoils this old fart something rotten.

What I liked about Denmark is they have bodega...basically a place you can drink and smoke, then they have cafe, then restaurant...
Bar 7 in CPH was good

Haha the chilli bite or cheese bite from 7 Eleven. I love all that relish stuff you cab add. The dried onions. Same in Stockholm. Almost every street corner.

Have a great pizza chain as well Ciao Ciao. They have that in Copenhagen?

I lived in Copenhagen and can say Danish food is pretty shit.

The best thing was the hot dogs from 7 Eleven at the end of Falconer Alle near the London Pub

I guess you'll be eating those delicious Semla cakes about now?

I still have those large decorated paper eggs from Easter. The ones you fill with sweets.

You have to love the archipelago in summer. Nothing beats it.

My wife's Swedish (I've lived there since 87) and I have to agree that some of the grub is spectacular.
Chocolate 'kladdkaka' has to be one of my favourites, followed closely by Janssons Frestelse.

Billy, her family had a farm in Liatorp, out in the sticks near Karlskrona.
BTW, did you ever try ostkaka? it a king of pudding. really nice with a dollop or ten of lingon on it. speaking of lingon, one funny thing i still find hard to get my head round after all these years is the fact that Swedes eat blood pudding with lingon on it instaed having it with a full "english" like ti's done here.

swiss, annika is from Enskede, but her family moved out to Tyreso when she was young. The summerhouse like many of them sat on an island in the Skargard (archipelago)
near Tyreso brevik, south east Stockholm.
